Paint The Town NEON!
Summer is a colorful time where people are looking to have fun and maybe inspired to try out somethings that they have never done before. Something that is new and different and what better place to do that than a birthday party? This is an unique idea that is simple but creative and above all something a bit new. You may or may not have seen these events called color runs, where everyone wears white and they have a gigantic and friendly fight with colorful powders and they are left looking all tie dyed. Think the vibe of a food fight, lots of laughter and messy but they good fun kind of messy. Well their is a super simple, cheap, nontoxic DIY way of making these powders and achieving the effect and recreating your very own color run! Now lets start with the powder and what you will need:
1 cup corn starch
1/2 cup water
1 ounce food coloring
mixing bowl
latex gloves
blender/food processor
Now once you have all that you start by mixing the corn starch and water together until you get a pasty, gloopy texture. Then you add the food coloring to it in whatever color you want. (The brighter the better!) After that you are going to spread it out in a baking pan and let it sit out for about a day and let it dry out a bit. Then you are gonna want to heat your oven to about 350 degrees and put the baking sheet in there. This is going to dry out the mixture even more and you can tell because it is going to start cracking. Once you are confident enough that the mixer is as dry as it can be you are then going to put it in a blender and put it on pulse so that it will break up into a nice fine powder. Then you put it in a zip lock bag and store it till you are ready to unleash it at your party!
